History

W. Gregory Duke

I earned my Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1990 from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I received my Bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1987 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

I was licensed to practice law in North Carolina in 1990 and have been continuously practicing law in Greenville, North Carolina since 1990. I am also licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

I limit my practice to domestic relations and divorce (75%) and criminal practice (25%). My domestic relations practice involves all aspects of domestic law including divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, and equitable distribution. I routinely negotiate and prepare prenuptial agreements, separation agreements and related legal documents on behalf of my clients. In the event I am unable to negotiate an out of court resolution on behalf of my clients, I am able to represent my clients in court through litigation.

My criminal practice is devoted primarily to the representation of clients charged with serious felony offenses. I have represented individuals charged with a wide range of offenses including capital crimes, drug offenses, sexual offenses, and weapons offenses. I also handle federal drug offenses and civil forfeiture cases in federal court.

Judson H. Blount, III

I earned my Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1985 from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I received my Bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1981 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

I limit my individual practice to personal injury cases.

Blount & Duke

At Blount & Duke, our attorneys have almost thirty years of combined legal experience. Foremost in that term, they have acquired strong trial skills. This background is particularly important in the areas of domestic law and criminal law. Some divorcing couples may be able to reach their own resolution and decide which one of them gets the house, the furnishings, custody of the children and the family pet; but many couples cannot. Even those that start out believing it is possible often find the process stalls out because of disagreements and emotions that cannot be separated from the business at hand. We serve not only as an emotional buffer, but also as an advocate when stakes are raised by a spouse seeking to use the litigation process as a weapon.

Other family law matters, such as enforcement of support and visitation rights also require an attorney proficient with courtroom skills. In disputes such as those, the offending spouse has often already shown his or her determination to oppose even a court order. Such a situation makes it all the more important that your attorney know how to prepare for all the things that may occur in the courtroom.

In criminal law matters, criminal defendants benefit from experienced practitioners who are able to think analytically, are well-prepared, and are not afraid to proceed to trial if that is what is in the particular client's best interests. We have substantial courtroom and trial experience in representing criminal defendants charged with the most serious of criminal offenses.
